Introduction / full article
Aspergers Syndrome
Aspergers Syndrome
Aspergers syndrome (abbreviated to AS) is an autism spectrum disorder, characterised by difficulties with social interaction and restricted, repetitive patterns of behaviour and interests. Although they do not form part of the standard diagnostic criteria for AS, poor motor skills and unusual use of language, such as incessant repetition or strictly literal usage, are also often associated with the condition. Unlike most other autism spectrum disorders, however, AS does not appear to impact upon cognitive development.
