Abdominal pain which radiates to the back can have a variety of aetiologies. It is important to note whether the abdominal paid radiates through or around to the back. Conditions causing pain which radiates round the back include cholecystitis, biliary colic and renal colic. Conditions that cause pain which radiate from the abdomin through to the back include abdominal aortic aneurysm, pancreatitis, aortic dissection and duodenal ulcer.
