Athetosis (Continuous Slow, Writhing, Involuntary Movement)

A nervous disorder marked by involuntary, slow, convoluted, writing movements of the fingers, hands, toes, and feet and in some cases the arms, legs, neck and tongue. Athetosis is usually due to a brain lesion. This symptom does not occur in isolation and is usually accompanied by the symptoms of cerebral palsy, as it is often a result of the disease.
