Osteonecrosis of the Jaw
Osteonecrosis is a disease caused by temporary or permanent reduced blood flow to the bones in the joints. Without a blood supply, bone cells die. The cause of the disease is currently unknown. Risk factors include long-term steroid use, alcohol abuse, and past joint injuries. Osteonecrosis of the jaw results in bone cell death and bone breakdown.
