Reflux (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, GERD)
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a condition in which the stomach contents leak backwards into the esophagus, causing irritation. Symptoms include heartburn, nausea after eating, and the sensation that food is stuck behind the breastbone (sternum).
