Scalp Infection
Tinea capitis is a fungal infection of the scalp. It is also known as ringworm of the scalp. Tinea capitis may involve only portions of the scalp. Infected areas appear bald with small black dots. Round, scaly inflammed areas of skin may be present. Pus-filled sores, called kerions, may also be present.
