Fluid Collection in Abdominal Cavity (Ascites)
Ascites is when fluid collects in the peritoneal cavity (the space between the tissues lining the abdomen and the abdominal organs). It is typically caused by liver disease. A person with ascites will have a swollen abdomen and flank bulging.
